Tina Farris
As one the most sought after
tour managers in Hip-Hop and R and B, Tina Farris is known for her take no
prisoners attitude about protecting her client and ensuring their first class
experience on the road. A self
described diplomat, Tina has managed tours all over the world and has become an
expert in providing a world class international touring experience for artists
from The Roots, The Black Eyed Peas, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Maxwell and many
more. Tina is also known for being one of the co-producers for the invite only
annual Roots Jam Session, one of the most critically acclaimed music events of
the year and the party to attend for Grammy week.
Before settling in to a life
on the road Tina, a UCLA grad, was a teacher at Sacramento and Compton High
Schools. She used her unique hands-on approach to learning to inspire students
to explore new worlds and expand their horizons. Whether it was in French or
leadership classes or directing a school musical she inspired students to look
beyond their immediate surroundings and have new cultural experiences in sight,
sound, taste and language.
Determined to do just that
for herself, Tina joined the Grammy award winning Legendary Roots Crew family
in 1999 as their tour manager. Her travels with The Roots and other clients have
taken her all over the world where she’s lead her clients through political
unrest, social actions and countless immigration snafus. Since starting with
The Roots, she has added a “who’s who” of music to her touring resume. An expert
on International touring, Tina speaks three languages and is an avid linguist.
Tina has expanded her reach
by adding handpicked personally trained tour managers and assistants to her roster
making her brand of ride or die tour management available to more clients.
In her free time at home and
on the road Tina, a passionate surfer, is always looking to find the perfect
wave. She looks forward to retiring one day to a vineyard in France.
Tina has a unique perspective
being one of the few women in an industry dominated not only by male talent but
also traditionally male management. She has no holds barred conversations about
race, gender and what it really takes to make it in today’s music industry and
how to compete in the new world of social media, blogosphere and digital
downloads.
